Dr. Iniobong Ekong is a digital health specialist, physician, and public health expert with a wealth of experience spanning over a decade. His unwavering dedication to improving healthcare through digital solutions has earned him recognition and acclaim in both national and international arenas, including his noteworthy achievement of winning the prestigious 2013 United Nations Public Service Award
With a robust background in digital health policy, strategy, governance, implementation, and regulation, Dr. Ekong has played pivotal roles in shaping the digital healthcare landscape. His contributions have been instrumental in driving transformative change within the FCT Health Services and Environment.
Currently, Dr. Ekong serves as the Deputy Director of eHealth and SDGs at the FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat. He is also the Vice Chairman of the National Mirror Committee on Health Informatics Standards ISO/TC 215, where he plays a pivotal role in driving the adoption of interoperable health information systems.
Dr. Ekong has made significant contributions to academic literature through his research and publications. His work has been published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Medical Internet Research and Scientific Data, where he has explored topics ranging from COVID-19 mobile positioning data contact tracing to the adoption of eHealth in healthcare settings.
